Tuscany Villas
Florence
is surrounded by numerous Villas dating
from the time of the Medici, designed by
the most important Renaissance architects.
Their Italian gardens stir in visitor
admiration and wonder at the culture of the Renaissance.
We would particularly recommend Villa Artimino,
la Petraia, i Collazzi
and Gamberaia.
Tuscany Wines
Tuscany
produces some of the most widely admired wines in
the world such as Chianti, il
Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, il Brunello
di Montalcino, il Sassicaia.
There are numerous fiestas and festivals dedicated to this
noble drink.
One can visit the wine cellars of the
most prestigious producers, try the first Crus accompanied
some small bite to eat, or even take part in the
annual grape harvest.
The Palio of Siena
The
Palio has its origin at the end of the 1400.
All of Siena is passionately involved in supporting the
horse which represents their particular Contrada,
or district, during the race which takes place in the central
Piazza del Campo.
It is an annual event occurring on the 2nd July
and 16th August. It is an unmissable event drawing
together both history, ancient costumes and culture of Siena
and sustaining the attention of Historians and writers throughout
the ages. The spectacle is complimented by flags hanging
in the streets, procession in Medieval Costumes,
songs so that one is caught up in the great passion which
consume Siena at this time of the year.
